In The Event of a Power Failure

1. Turn off all electrical equipment when you lose power. This will lessen the electrical load on circuits when the power is restored and protect the equipment from a power surge.

2. Standby for notification from building management of the cause and duration of the power loss. Building management will then give occupants further instructions regarding the situation.

3. In the event of a total power failure, including emergency power, it is likely that occupants will be required to evacuate the building via exit stairwells.

4. When evacuating the building, exit the floor via the nearest exit and proceed to the assembly area as directed by emergency personnel.

If occupants choose to evacuate before instructed to do so, let someone — supervisor, co-worker or emergency personnel — know. This will eliminate unnecessarily searching the building for lost or missing people.
